LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION

Sea Lane Express Inc.

Early in the morning on September 14, 2001, Ronald E. Dyson of Leland pulled over to offer assistance to a car that had run into a utility pole. The accident caused metal cable wires used to support school crossing signs to disconnect and hang above the road. Dyson used a flashlight to warn traffic of the wreck but a tractor trailer drove into the low hanging cables causing Dyson's body to be lashed and tossed in the air. The cables were coated with bird droppings that brought on a flesh eating infection that eventually killed Dyson two years later. Ronald's wife Peggie filed a lawsuit against Kevin Royster, the tractor driver, and his employer Sea Lane. She was awarded a $2.3 million settlement for the wrongful death of her husband to cover medical expenses. (Jun-12-05) [TUSCALOSSA NEWS]
