Fourteen years ago, Yankel Rosenbaum was stabbed four times by Lemrick Nelson during a race riot in Crown Heights that erupted after a Hasidic driver accidentally struck and killed 7 year old African American boy. Rosenbaum was taken to the emergency trauma center at Kings County. A state report concluded his death was a result of staff members missing a stab wound. The State Supreme Court in Brooklyn awarded a $1.25-million settlement to the family of the slain doctoral student. (Jun-21-05)
