Douglas County Jail

Over the course of four days Jeremiah Bratsch reported stabbing pains in his lower right abdomen. The 21 year old inmate was finally sent to a clinic where he under went surgery. Bratsch filed a lawsuit against the jail after medical staff there failed to recognize his appendicitis; surgeons had to remove 1.5 feet of intestine. The Douglas County Jail awarded Bratsch a $225,000 settlement for their medical negligence. (Aug-13-05)
