LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
Ford Motor Co.
In March 2004, sixteen year-old Jennifer Garcia and her parents were driving in their 1993 Ford F-150 when they were struck by motorist Hazel Scaman as she was leaving a fruit stand along the U.S. 77 Expressway. The pickup truck rolled and the roof collapsed leaving Jennifer with sever brain injuries. She spent 18 days in a coma at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen and later died. Jennifer's family filed a lawsuit against Ford claiming the roof failed to protect their daughter. The trial concluded and the jury found Ford 90% at fault for Jennifer Garcia's death and awarded her family $30.4 million in damages and medical expenses. (Oct-04-05)
