City of Minneapolis
On April 12, 2003 thousands of university students and non-students rioted after the Minnesota Gophers hockey team won the national championship. That night as Jeffrey Arndt was walking home to his fraternity house he was allegedly shot by a city police officer with a bean bag projectile. Arndt suffered a ruptured spleen and friends took him to the hospital where doctors proceeded to remove the damaged organ. Arndt filed a lawsuit against the Minneapolis Police and was awarded a $400,000 settlement for his injuries. (Dec-01-05)
