University of California Board of Regents

Anneliese Yuenger died in 1999 at age 82; her family donated her body to the university's medical school. A month later, Yuenger's ashes were returned to the family in a plastic bag. An investigation revealed the ashes came from miscellaneous body parts burned several months prior to Yuenger death. An internal review exposed that the university could not determine the final destination of more than 300 bodies donated between January 1995 and August 1999. The University of California Board of Regents agreed to pay a $500,000 settlement to the Yuenger family. The former director's business partner, Christopher Brown, has also agreed to pay the family a $200,000 settlement. (Dec-06-05) [AZ STAR NET]
