LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
City of Oakland
During a 2003 anti war demonstration protesters and longshore workers were bombarded by police near the Port of Oakland. Several bags of leads were fired at protesters, one of which hit Sri Louise Coles in the face. Coles suffered a severe welt to her jaw and filed a lawsuit against the city claiming police had fired non lethal projectiles without provocation and without giving them a chance to disperse. The city of Oakland agreed to a $210,000 personal injury settlement. (Dec-23-05)
