CN Rail
In May 2001, a massive wildfire broke out near Chisholm, Alberta that destroyed 10 homes and burned 116,000 hectares of forest. Charges were filed against the railway for conducting an activity in a forest protection area without exercising reasonable care. CN Rail has agreed to an $18.6 million out-of-court settlement.
