LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
E2 Nightclub
On February 17, 2003 a fight broke out at the Chicago nightclub. Some used pepper spray to break up the commotion on the dance floor. The club's capacity is 240 people, but that night there was nearly 1,200 partiers inside. The crowd panicked and tried to rush out a narrow stairwell; dozens of people were trampled near the entrance as people behind them forced their way out. Twenty one people were killed and 95 were injured by the stampede. The injured and the families of those killed filed dozens of wrongful death lawsuits against the nightclub and its owners Dwain Kyles and Calvin Hollins Jr. They have agreed to a tentative $1.5 million settlement.
