Elpida Memory Inc.
This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.
Charges were filed against the Japanese computer chip company in a federal court in San Francisco for allegedly conspiring with other companies to fix the prices of memory chips known as dynamic random access memory, or DRAM. Two charges were filed against Elpida, one count of conspiring with other manufacturers to fix DRAM prices between 1999 and 2002 and one count of conspiring to rig a bid for the purchases of memory modules manufactured by Sun Microsystems Inc. in 2002. Elpida Memory has pleaded guilty to international price-fixing and agreed to pay an $84 million antitrust fine. (Jan-30-06)
