Accor North America Inc.
Accor North America Inc. has reached an undisclosed monetary settlement with Hitendra and Falguni Bhakta, the parents of a child who is alleged to have found and swallowed a used condom at the Motel 6 in Casper, Wyoming on May 26, 2003. It appears that the child, who was only two years of age at the time of the incident, was found choking on a used condom that was left in the hotel room by the previous occupants. The father tried to pull it from his son's mouth, but the condom broke and was swallowed by the child.
The boy was rushed to hospital where it was found that he was at risk for several communicable diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis. He later tested positive for the presence of the antibody of highly contagious liver disease, Hepatitis B. Court documents suggest that the disease has since resolved itself.
