TiVo Inc. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the parent of the Dish satellite television provider. TiVo claimed EchoStar used its technology without license for the satellite company's own digital video recorders. A jury in the U.S. District Court in Marshall found that EchoStar had willfully infringed TiVo's patent to pause and rewind live television and awarded TiVo a $74 million settlement.
