Wal-Mart

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox filed charges against the retail store for allegedly violating state item pricing laws. The lawsuit claimed Wal-Mart failed to individually price items, which stands in violation of Michigan law. Michigan laws state items on store shelves must be clearly marked with a price tag, so consumers know how much an item costs before they reach the checkout register and can verify that they were not overcharged after leaving the store. Wal-Mart has agreed to pay a $1.5 million fine for the violations. (Apr-24-06)
