LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
Random House Inc. and Author Dan Brown
The best selling thriller, "The Da Vinci Code," has been found not to infringe copyrights of a book published in 2000 called "Daughter of God," by author Lewis Perdue. Perdue had sued Daniel Brown, author of "The Da Vinci Code" and Random House Inc., his publisher, for $150 million in damages.
However, a court ruled that while both books tell a story based on religious and historical people, places and events, the factual details in each book are not sufficiently similar to constitute a copyright infringement. (Apr-20-06) [BOSTON GLOBE]
