The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency filed charges against the discount retailer for failing to close and replace three large capacity cesspools at its Kona, HI store. Costco allegedly violated a statewide directive to close cesspools. Costco will pay a $75,000 fine and install a wastewater treatment unit at its Kona facility. (May-31-06) [PACIFIC BUSINESS NEWS]
