CSX and Amtrak

On March 2, 2005 Osly Yobany Mendez was killed after an Amtrak train slammed into his Winn-Dixie maintenance truck at a CSX crossing. A CSX engine passed the area moments before the Amtrak train and messed up the circuit and prevented the crossing's warning devices from activating for the second train. Mendez's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the two companies who have agreed to pay a $3.6 million settlement. (Jun-13-06) [ ORLANDO SENTINEL ]
