State of New Mexico
This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.
In the early 1980s three young women with mild to sever mental retardation were neglected by the state of New Mexico and placed in the home of a housekeeper and her husband where they allegedly suffered neglect and sexual abuse for 20 years. They were former residents of the former Los Lunas Hospital and Training School, the state's primary institution for the developmentally disabled. In early 2003, the three women, now middle-aged, were removed from the Bosque Farms home of Juan and Gloria Garcia after Garcia complained he could no longer control one of the women. (Jul-08-06)
