Refco Inc.

Commodities brokerage firm Refco Inc. was alleged to improperly transfer customer's funds from its regulated Refco units into a controversial unregulated Refco unit in Bermuda. Refco's main company filed for bankruptcy in October 2005 but its Refco Securities LLC unit has agreed to settle with its customers and creditors for $127 million. (Jul-21-06) [HOUSTON CHRONICLE ]
