Manhattan lawyer Alice Griffin was at a Starbucks on Seventh Avenue in New York when the clerk slid her hot cup of coffee across the counter. It fell on her foot and Griffin suffered burn injuries. She filed a personal injury lawsuit against the coffee chain. A jury awarded Griffin $310,000 in a ruling upheld by State Supreme Court Justice.
