A&G Coal Corp.

Wise - On August 20, 2004 3-year-old Jeremy Kyle Davidson was asleep in his bed. Just then, a 1,000 pound boulder tumbled 650 feet and crashed through the family's house. Jeremy was crushed by the boulder, but his 7-year-old brother and parents were not injured. The coal mining company was responsible for dislodging the boulder and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy fined the company $15,000 for negligence. The toddler's parents, Dennis and Cindy Davidson, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against A&G Coal alleging gross negligence related to the incident. Wise County Circuit Judge Tammy McElyea awarded the parents a $3 million settlement to compensate for Jeremy's death. (Sep-08-06) [DAILY PRESS]
