Los Angeles - The Recording Industry Association of America filed charges against the company behind popular online file sharing software eDonkey for allegedly violating copyright infringement laws. MetaMachine has agreed to pay $30 million and immediately cease distributing eDonkey, eDonkey 2000, Overnet and other software versions. The company also agreed to take measures to prevent file sharing by people using previously downloaded software versions. (Sep-13-06) [NEWSDAY]
