LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
Fourwinds Equestrian Centre
Spalding - In April 1996, at the age of 13, Katie Witcombe was helping out at Fourwinds Equestrian Centre where her pony was kept. Katie was in a field trying to catch her pony when a group of horses galloped towards her; one of the horses suddenly lashed out and kicked Katie in the head. She suffered severe injuries and brain damage in the incident and is now dependent on round-the-clock care. Her mother filed a personal injury lawsuit against the owner of Fourwinds Equestrian Centre. Now 24, Katie has been awarded a £2.1 million settlement as insurers agreed to settle the case on the basis of 70% liability in her favor. (Sep-18-06)
