Trenton - On May 23, 2004 Sean Foley was ejected from the Sawmill Tavern and Restaurant. Outside the bar, Foley encountered local police and was charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. While in custody, Foley claims he was pepper-sprayed and beaten twice while handcuffed, suffering a separated shoulder. Foley said as many as four officers were punching and kicking him in the head at one time. He was later found innocent of all charges. Foley filed a suit against Seaside Park in US District Court, Trenton alleging excessive force, false arrest, malicious prosecution and abuse of process. He reached a $450,000 settlement with the borough and four officers. (Sep-20-06)
