Prempro

Philadelphia - Jennie Nelson took Prempro for six years and developed breast cancer. As a result of the cancer, she underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She filed a lawsuit against Wyeth claiming it was negligent in the testing, manufacture and marketing of its hormone replacement therapy drug Prempro. A jury awarded Nelson $1 million and her husband $500,000 in compensatory damages after finding that Wyeth's Prempro was a cause of her breast cancer. The Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas jury may award additional punitive damages if it finds Wyeth failed to warn of the dangers of Prempro. (Oct-04-06) [REUTERS: PREMPRO]
