Seattle, WA: In October 2004 there was an oil spill between Tacoma and Vashon Island in the Puget Sound of Washington State. ConocoPhillips has agreed to pay $2.2 million to the US federal government to cover costs of cleaning up the oil spill. The company has also agreed to pay $80,000 as a penalty for the spill and will pay $540,000 to the state of Washington. (Oct-17-06)
