Walgreen Co.
Lansing, MI: Michigan state Attorney General Mike Cox filed charges against the drug store chain for allegedly failing to put price tags on merchandise in its Michigan stores. The case claimed Walgreen violated Michigan's item pricing law after a Department of Agriculture investigation found a 31% compliance rate or percentage of items with price tags. The state of Michigan requires price tags on almost every item in stores. If consumers are charged more than the price marked, they can demand the difference plus 10 times the amount of the difference, up to $5. Walgreen has agreed to pay $550,000. (Oct-24-06)
