LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
New Jersey
Newark, NJ: Seven-year-old Faheem Williams was in foster care with his two brothers under the care of their older cousin, Sherry Murphy. In January 2003, Faheem's decomposed remains were found in a basement storage bin; his brothers were found sick and emaciated in an adjacent room. Murphy's teenage son, Wesley, admitted to accidentally killing Faheem while doing a wrestling move. Sherry Murphy admitted she left the boy's body on the floor and then put it in a plastic hamper. The state had investigated abuse complaints involving Faheem, but closed the file 11 months before his body was found. The state of New Jersey has agreed to a settlement that gives $1 million to the boy's estate. His twin, Raheem Williams, now 11, gets $2.75 million, and half brother Tyrone Hill Jr., 8, gets $3.75 million. (Nov-11-06)
