Luton and Dunstable Hospital

In April 1971, Salvatore was born to 16-year-old Maria and Leo di Giorgi at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. While in the pediatric ward, Salvatore did not receive the care he needed and became progressively more dehydrated. His condition became critical and he was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital where he survived. Thirteen years later, Salvatore had an epileptic fit; he underwent a scan that revealed he had brain damage. Salvatore's parents filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. The High Court found injuries were caused by care he received at Luton and Dunstable Hospital and a High Court judge awarded the family a �3.9 million settlement.
