Brattleboro, VT: On December 2, 2001, Robert "Woody" Woodward entered the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, threatened himself with a knife, and talked about political assassinations. Brattleboro police offices were called to the scene and shot Woodward seven times where after he died. His family filed a civil lawsuit against the city of Brattleboro claiming police used excessive force and should not have shot Woodward, let alone seven times until he died.
