US Federal Government

San Antonio, TX: Six years of legal feuding finally ended with the federal government agreeing to pay the San Antonio attorney, Alan Brown $1.34 million to settle claims that revenue agents maliciously targeted him. The lawsuit began with when Alan Brown's office manager got involved with a cocaine smuggler and in an effort to win him over, told federal agents that Brown routinely cheated on his taxes. The government did not admit to any wrongdoing or accept responsibility. The 63-year-old attorney said he considered the sum as a small measure of justice compared with the financial and emotional costs of the prosecution.
