Hamilton Sundstrand
Hertford, CT: (Feb-08-07) Windsor Locks-based Hamilton Sundstrand pleaded guilty to criminal violations of the federal Clean Water Act before a judge in US District Court in Hartford. The settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency and Connecticut state Department of Environmental Protection totals around $12 million including all fines, fees, and other costs. Hamilton Sundstrand will pay a $1 million fine and be subject to five years of probation. The company also agreed to make a $500,000 contribution to the state to monitor ecosystems projects on the Farmington River, as well as $2 million to monitor water quality around dairy farms, and a $500,000 payment for an electronic monitoring system to monitor company's compliance with the Clean Water Act.
