Harrisburg, PA: (Feb-21-07) Pharmaceutical giant Schering-Plough came under federal censure for its improper pricing and marketing practices of several of the company's prescription medications, especially allergy drug Claritin Redi-Tabs and potassium supplement K-Dur. Schering-Plough ended up paying the United States Department of Justice $435 million in restitution for their criminal and civil liabilities and has agreed to take steps to enhance their compliance with federal and state laws. Pennsylvania received $7.8 million as part of the settlement, $4.2 million of the total funds will be used to reimburse Pennsylvania's Medicaid program for lost funds.
