Nueces County, TX
This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.
Nueces County, TX: (Mar-15-07) A lawsuit filed by Zachry Construction Corp., the fairgrounds' general contractor, against the city accused it of breach of contract. The commissioners agreed at a special meeting to pay the firm $5,924,367 for work it completed at the fairgrounds before the commissioners voided their contract with Zachry after the county's bidding procedures first came under fire in December. Fulton Coastcon of Corpus Christi, which was the other firm to bid for the 140,000-square-foot Heritage Arena, challenged the $25 million contract awarded to Zachry to build the Heritage Arena, claiming the county failed to read the bids aloud in public. Though Fulton retracted suit, the commissioners agreed to pay Fulton $34,000 of legal fees and re-bid the Heritage Arena. Zachry then sued the county on February, 23 2007 for $5.9 million of work performed on the Central Pavilion Arena, two exhibition halls, and initial work on the Equestrian Center, plus engineering and consulting costs.
