Champaign, IL: (Mar-28-07) Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office filed charges against power generator Dynegy Inc. accusing the company of polluting the environment and violating the Clean Air Act. In a settlement reached, Dynegy agreed to turn over more than 1,000 acres along the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River to the state of Illinois as well as install more than $500 million worth of pollution controls at five coal-fired power plants for alleged Clean Air Act violations. The heavily wooded land, valued at $2.25 million, is adjacent to the Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area and Kickapoo State Park.
