Fisher-Price Inc.
This is a settlement for the Defective Product lawsuit.
San Antonio, TX: (Mar-01-07) Fisher-Price Inc. has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $975,000 for failure to report a defective product. Over 67,000 Little People Animal Sounds Farm were recalled in June 2002 after it was discovered that a nail fastener could come loose from barn's stall doors. The nails could cause choking hazards or other personal injuries when placed in the mouth by small children. The company failed to report the defects and the reasons for defects to the CPSC. The CPSC ordered Fisher-Price to recall the product and provide a free repair kit to the consumer. Fisher-Price disagrees with CPSC's allegations and denies that it violated the Consumer Product Safety Act.
