Tropicana Casino & Resort
Atlantic City, NJ: (Apr-11-07) The families of four men who died in a construction accident, when the parking garage at the Tropicana Casino & Resort collapsed on October 30, 2003 and 36 other workers stand to receive a $101 million settlement in the wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit. The suit alleged that the resort wanted to compete with the Borgata, another resort, and had their contractor revise the design of the steel reinforcements of the parking garage, compromising its stability. The settlement was approved by an Atlantic County judge in Atlantic City, but the amount per plaintiff will be decided through arbitration.
