Palmer, MA

Palmer, MA: (Apr-21-07) Jason N. Isch, a hearing-impaired man, filed a civil rights lawsuit against the town and members of the Police Department, claiming that he suffered severe emotional distress, public humiliation, loss of enjoyment of life and pain due to his arrest and imprisonment. Isch and his then-partner Andrew Wadas were arrested in 2004 in connection with vandalism to a 109 Mount Dumplin Road home. In a settlement, the town agreed to pay $32,500 to end the suit though the payout does not signify any admission of guilt by the Police Department. According to the terms of the settlement, Isch was required to pay his own attorney's fees. The settlement agreement states that the officers, town and chief are released from any future claims. The town paid $7,000 which its insurance carrier picked up the remaining $25,000 cost. [THE REPUBLICAN: HEARING IMPAIRE ARREST]
