McKinney City, TX: (May-21-07) Christi Dawn Hernandez of Princeton filed a civil lawsuit against the City, after she was wrongfully arrested in January 2006 for a crime she didn't commit. A Collin County grand jury originally indicted Christi Dawn Hernandez, 35, on Sept. 5, 2006, on a state jail felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance. Sheriff's deputies arrested her on Jan. 25 at Lovejoy High School, where she works as an assistant cafeteria manager. Collin County District Attorney John Roach and Assistant District Attorney Gary Knapp signed and submitted a motion on Jan. 31 to dismiss prosecution against the 35-year-old woman after a McKinney police detective confirmed the person that Collin County sheriff's deputies arrested was not the woman accused of selling cocaine to an undercover police officer, but that it was Christy Marie Hernandez of Anna. Anna Police arrested Christy Hernandez on May 7. In a settlement reached, the McKinney City Council approved a $25,000 settlement for Christi Dawn Hernandez, ending the mistaken identity lawsuit.
