Misty Murphy

Risco, MO: (May-31-07) The Risco School District filed charges against Misty Murphy, the district superintendent, following an investigation into alleged fiscal abuses. The investigation revealed that there were irregularities and funds missing from district accounts. It identified Murphy as the person responsible for the mismanagement of the district funds. Murphy resigned from the district in June of 2006. District leaders traced back to the 2001-2002 school year receipts for items, bought by Murphy, that were not legitimate expenditures. Though Murphy denied the allegations, she agreed to a settlement in which she would pay the district $134,802.58, plus another $10,454.43 in accountant legal fees.
