Adams County, NE
Adams County, NE: (May-31-07) Robert Monahan Jr., developer and Gateway property owner, filed suit against Adams County, over land he had planned to use for a visitors' center for Gettysburg National Military Park, but which went undeveloped after he lost the bid for the project.
In a settlement reached, the county commissioners approved a $2.3 million settlement agreement between the county, Gettysburg Historic Holdings Inc. and North Ridge Associates for costs incurred through construction at the Gateway Gettysburg complex. The commissioners signed the agreement 11 years after a previous board agreed to pay for the installation of a traffic signal and turning lanes and to contribute financially to the entrance's construction. Monahan sued the county in 2001 to enforce what he said was the county's contractual obligations. In January 2007, Adams County Judge Michael A. George found the county was responsible for paying for the road improvements and half of the cost of Gateway Boulevard. [EVENING SUN: DEVELOPMENT DISPUTE]
