La Crosse County, WI: (Jun-12-07) The Wisconsin State Department of Health and Family Services brought charges against Lakeview Health Center after a resident died in 2005. The department alleged that it found numerous violations at Lakeview after the Sept. 2, 2005 death of a resident, who died of heart failure after drinking excessive amounts of water. Most of the fines and violations related to the woman's death. Officials said state inspectors cited Lakeview multiple times over multiple days for the same violations. The state ordered Lakeview Health Center to pay a penalty of $126,000. La Crosse County hired an attorney to appeal the original fine of $126,000, and is optimistic about it being reduced to $30,000.
