Dr. Sean Nisivoccia
Newark, NJ: (Jun-19-07) The State Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor and the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners filed suit against Dr. Sean Nisivoccia, alleging that the chiropractor illegally had office tests conducted by technicians, including a 15-year-old boy. New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Co., one of the plaintiffs, claimed that the tests, to evaluate nerve damage, must be conducted by a certified doctor or chiropractor. In this case, Dr. Sean Nisivoccia did not gain his certification until December 2004 despite having billed the company for conducting tests since 1999, the insurer said. The Ewing-based company said it provided evidence to State Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor and the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, which licenses chiropractors. New Jersey Manufacturers said the billings for the nerve conduction tests involved more than 60 people in auto accident claims. In a settlement reached, Dr. Sean Nisivoccia agreed to pay $1 million to resolve the fraud suit.
