John Marini

Milford, MA: (Jul-02-07) Bechara "Bash" Fren, the owner of Franklin Pizza & Deli filed a lawsuit against Franklin Center Commons developer John Marini, alleging that Marini breached his contract with Fren. Marini's mixed-use development included plans for three buildings on one side of East Central Street near Summer Street and one on the other side. His first building, three stories of retail and office space, opened in June 2007 on Summer Street. A second building, a mix of condos and retail space, is scheduled to be completed in fall 2007 where the old Franklin Furniture Co. warehouse once stood. While there are still tenants in the strip, Fren is the only one with a lease, which runs out in May 2009. Fren has said he was offered a new deal to move into the Summer Street building, but that Marini reneged, causing the pizza shop to sue the developer. Marini later offered to move the pizza shop to the building slated to open this fall, but changed the terms of the lease after they had been agreed to in a hand-written contract. In a settlement reached, the developer agreed to pay Fren $25,000 to drop the lawsuit against him. [MILFORD DAILY NEWS: PIZZA SHOP LEASE]
