Horning Farm Agency Inc.
This is a settlement for the Discrimination lawsuit.
Lancaster County, PA: (Jul-28-07) The US Department of Housing and Urban Development brought a federal lawsuit against Horning Farm Agency Inc., a local real estate company which does business in Lancaster, Chester, and Berks counties, alleging that it violated Pennsylvania state and federal housing laws. The charges stemmed from a complaint that Horning denied sales to families in Loags Corner Mobile Home Park in Elverson because it wanted to illegally shift the park to a 55-and-over adult community. The suit was filed in April 2007, by Glenn Brown, who in October 2006 put a for sale sign on his two-bedroom home in Loags, which is owned and operated by Horning Farm Agency. Brown claimed that Horning posted a sign advertising a plan to shift Loags to an adult mobile home park several years ago.
Coincidentally, several families that were interested in buying his home were told Loags does not sell to tenants with children. Unable to sell his home, Brown filed a complaint with the Fair Housing Council of Suburban Philadelphia. Its director, James Berry, said Horning's attempt to prematurely create a 55-plus community is a violation of the law. In a settlement reached, Horning, which provides real estate sales, appraisals and auctions from an office in Narvon, agreed to pay $50,000 to settle allegations. It did not admit any wrongdoing.
