This is a settlement for the Car Accidents (National) lawsuit.
Port St. Lucie, FL: (Aug-03-07) Tiffany Barrett brought a lawsuit against Rick Starr Lincoln Mercury, after she was hit by a salesman while he was on his cell phone. Barrett was left with permanent disabilities. Barrett was on her way to a Christmas party with her three kids when their mini van was struck by the salesman's car that pulled out in front of her on US 1. The suit stated that had the man not been on the phone, the accident might never have happened. Barrett was on maternity leave after having her third child when the crash occurred and she suffered from permanently disabling orthopedic and neurological injuries, requiring her to walk with a cane and undergo three surgeries.
In a settlement reached, Barrett, 26, will receive $1.75 million from the company. The money will pay her medical bills, assist with future therapy and help her purchase a home.
