Cambria Somerset Authority
This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.
Richland Township, PA: (Aug-02-07) Former Somerset County engineer Paul Rizzo Associates Inc. brought a lawsuit against the Cambria Somerset Authority (CSA), alleging that the authority breached a contract. The last active work the firm performed for the CSA involved a $1.3 million microhydro project, which was halted indefinitely in December 2006 when it was discovered that construction would not be able to begin until 2010 at the earliest, long after a grant award for the project expired. At that time, the authority also voted to freeze payments of $26,550 to the project engineer.
In a settlement reached, the board agreed to pay the group $55,000 after several months of negotiations. The final settlement amount also includes work done on several other projects by the firm, including a dam face rehabilitation and water allocation permitting. Though Rizzo was the authority's original engineer when the CSA was founded in 2000, it was removed from that position in January 2006. [DAILY AMERICAN: PROJECT CONTRACT]
