Linda Mead
This is a settlement for the DUI/DWI lawsuit.
Gilberts, IL: (Aug-12-07) The family of Richard Seyller filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Linda Mead, a woman who was driving a vehicle that collided with Seyller, killing him. Sources stated that Mead's blood alcohol content was 0.243, more than three times the legal driving limit, at the time of the accident. Seyller, 60, was killed about 11:15 a.m. Oct. 25, 2005, on Route 20 near Harmony Road in Coral Township in McHenry County. Mead, 51, pleaded guilty to aggravated drunken driving in July 2006 and is serving a four-year prison sentence at the Lincoln Correctional Center. She claimed that her drinking was spurred by remembering her late husband on his birthday. He had committed suicide in 2004 and she had just found his suicide note. Seyller was a retired chemist who had started working as a Realtor shortly before his death.
In a settlement reached with Mead's insurance carrier, State Farm Insurance Co., Kane County Judge Gene L. Nottolini approved a $1.25 million settlement for the surviving family. Seyller was survived by his wife of 31 years and their three children. The settlement was reached without the need of litigation allowing the Seyller family to move on without having to continually relive the tragedy. [NORTHWEST HERALD: DUI DEATH]
