Harrisburg International Airport
This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.
Harrisburg, PA: (Aug-22-07) The Harrisburg International Airport reached settlements in two lawsuits that it faced, with one of the deals being approved by the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority board. A Middletown Area School District imposed a 10% tax on airport parking revenue. In its offer to Cramer Airport Parking owners Stanford and Lynn Cramer, the authority proposes to withdraw its attempt to seize the Cramer property and make payments up to $300,000 to compensate the Cramers. In return, the authority requests the state attorney general to end its federal court action against the authority on the Cramers' behalf.
The Cramers claimed that the authority wanted to eliminate their business as a competitor for airport parking. The attorney general contends the authority's attempt to take the Cramer property violates federal antitrust laws. The other case involved Mark Stambaugh, owner of Stambaugh's Air Service, alleging that that the authority in 1997 began forcing it out as FBO in favor of Aero Services International Inc. Stambaugh sought $42 million in damages. From 1975 to 1997, Stambaugh was the fixed-base operator at HIA, providing services such as fueling, maintenance and cargo handling. In a settlement reached, the authority approved a $45,000 payout to Stambaugh's Air Service Inc. [PATRIOT NEWS: PARKING TAX]
