Armstrong Wood Products

Lincoln, NE: (Aug-30-07) Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning's office filed suit against Armstrong Wood Products of Lancaster, PA, alleging that the company violated Nebraska environmental protection laws. The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality inspectors stated that Armstrong didn't properly train its Auburn plant employees to monitor air quality and didn't maintain records about air-quality control activities and repairs. They further alleged that Armstrong didn't label discarded paint filters as hazardous waste and dispose of them correctly. In a settlement reached, Armstrong Wood Products agreed to pay $75,000 in fines to the state Common Schools Fund and $75,000 to the city of Auburn. Sources state that Auburn will use the money to help build a nature trail. [PHILLY BURBS: AIR QUALITY]
