D. Dean Mauro
Naperville, IL: (Aug-31-07) Tyna Robertson, a Joliet resident and one-time Naperville real estate agent and exotic dancer, accused "Lord of the Dance" creator Michael Flatley, of raping her five years ago in Las Vegas. Flatley brought a suit against Robertson's attorney, D. Dean Mauro of Waukegan, alleging defamation and that Mauro initially demanded Flatley "pay millions of dollars in order to prevent Robertson from filing a lawsuit and publicly accusing Flatley of raping her." Mauro admitted this in a written consent.
In a settlement reached, Mauro apologized to Flatley for any harm, distress or damages he has suffered as a result of this matter and regretted that his actions contributed to that harm. He further agreed to pay $400,000 to the former "Riverdance" star. Mauro's own attorney confirmed that the defamation suit was settled with no admission of liability on Mauro's part. Meanwhile, Robertson has defaulted in Flatley's lawsuit. Sources stated that legal firms will be pursuing a judgment against her for still-undetermined financial damages.
